Hi, I’m Sam—founder of HomePlay-ce, playroom designer, and passionate believer in the power of purposeful spaces.
Before diving into interior design, I spent years working hands-on with kids as a speech therapist and special education teacher. I earned my degree in Speech and Hearing Science from Arizona State University and started my career as a habilitation and respite therapist, eventually becoming a full-time speech therapist. My specialty? Helping K–12 students develop executive functioning skills—things like organization, planning, flexible thinking, and independence.
Then, in 2020, when the world hit pause, I hit go. I launched an interior design business that allowed me to bring clients' visions to life in new ways—designing everything from homes and playrooms to game rooms, Airbnbs, and commercial spaces.
Now, I’m bringing it all full circle. HomePlay-ce is where my two passions meet: child development and intentional design. I create playrooms and sensory spaces that are not only beautiful and functional, but grounded in developmental principles that help children grow, regulate, and thrive.
Whether you’re dreaming of a cozy sensory nook, a creativity-sparking play zone, or a space that supports your child’s unique needs—I’m here to help design a space that works for your family, not just looks good in photos.
